Holiness and You (pt 2 of 2)

Yesterday I pointed out that all violations of Yahweh’s Holiness must (and will) be punished. That somebody will be burned to death in fire for sexual immorality. Someone will be stoned to death for blasphemy. But, I also pointed out that in the most amazing act of mercy the world has ever known, the One who created these standards and the associated punishments for violating them, volunteered to take the countless punishments we are required to pay. Holiness and You (pt 1 of 2)

Over the last few years I’ve been creating studies—reviews, if you will—of the Old Testament books. Originally it was only going to be the first five books of the Bible, what is called the Torah. But I was having too much fun and new revelations, I kept going. So far I’ve made it through II Samuel. But as a result of these studies I have become quite fascinated and passionate (okay, my friends would call it obsessive) about the studies.

When I began Leviticus chapter 21, which is directly connected to chapter 22, I explained that both chapters were directed to the priests of Israel, although much of what the priests were instructed to do was also required of the regular citizens. (more…)
