In Season and Out

You may not have thought about this much, but here is something you have to consider. Your life is not your own. You have declared that you have given your life to the Lord. Well, if that is true, your life no longer belongs to you. You have given it away and as a result, it is now like a secret garden. And within that garden is a closed well that only the Messiah can open. And, He will only open that well to those he invites into it. Are you with me so far?

Beyond that, if you are simply going to read the Bible as a historical book, it will indeed be boring and you will fail to see any significance to it. Quite some times ago, I posted an article regarding this on my blog. Take a look: The 11th Commandment: Thou Shalt Be Relevant

You see, for a believer the Word of God is supposed to be Life and Wisdom; but in the mind of an Unbeliever, it is indeed foolishness. But still, we are required to preach the Word in Season and out . . .

I can’t impress this on you too strongly. God is looking over your shoulder. Christ himself is the Judge, with the final say on everyone, living and dead. He is about to break into the open with his rule, so proclaim the Message with intensity; keep on your watch. Challenge, warn, and urge your people. Don’t ever quit. Just keep it simple.

You’re going to find that there will be times when people will have no stomach for solid teaching, but will fill up on spiritual junk food—catchy opinions that tickle their fancy. They’ll turn their backs on truth and chase mirages. But you—keep your eye on what you’re doing; accept the hard times along with the good; keep the Message alive; do a thorough job as God’s servant. –2 Timothy 4:1-3 (The Message)

Okay, so what are we going to do about that today? Are we simply going to take notes and put them into our Bibles? Or, are we simply going to shrug our shoulders and say, “Yep. Amen. That is absolutely true”? Or better yet, are we going to see the lack in our own lives and go to our knees,

Father, I know I have failed to take the responsibility you have given me, too lightly. Forgive me for that. Show me how I can indeed, proclaim your Word with intensity and passion, but also plainly and simply. Please give me the Wisdom to share your Message of Life, to those I meet.
