Seek Life

My heart has been troubled lately because too man believers have a distorted picture of our Lord. They see Him as a meek and mild mouse who gently presents His message. But my friends, the tame, doe-eyed, nonthreatening Jesus is not the Jesus found in the Gospels! He easily upends the status quo, and if push comes to shove, He proves to be a threat to those around him.

Solomon affirmed this: “The Lord laughs at those who mock him, and gives grace to those who are not proud” (Proverbs 3:34). He is a stone that causes people to stumble and a rock that makes them fall. Jesus is the truth and will offend everyone who hears His Name. As Micheal Card sings:

“A stone that makes men stumble and a rock that makes them fall. Many will be broken so that He can make them whole. And many will be crushed and lose their own soul.”

You are the only one who can decide if  you will be broken, so He can make you whole; only you can seek Life, or if you will surrender to death. The God of Creation has set before you both life and prosperity on the one hand, and death and disaster on the other.

What He has commanded us to do, is to love the Lord our God, to walk in his ways, and to obey His commandments, His statutes, and His ordinances. Once you do that, you will live and the Lord your God will bless you. However, if you turn aside and choose to disobey and are lured away to worship and serve other gods, you will certainly perish! Quite simply, He has set before you life or death; blessings or curses. It is recommended that you choose life so you may live! If that is what you choose, than you are to love the Lord your God, to obey him and be loyal to him, because he gives you life, health, and peace.

Pretty simple, isn’t it? So why have we been making it so difficult? Why do we struggle so much? Simply believe. That is the whole message in just two words!
