Good Advice From Paul

Look around you. No, don’t just take a casual glance, but actually study and see what is happening in the world — especially in The Church. Paul told his son Timothy, how the Spirit of God clearly told us that in later times some believers will desert the Christian faith. They will be deceived and follow false and misguided teachings. Oh, the teachings will make you feel good, but they will also lead you away from the Truth.

These teachers will be so concerned that they don’t offend you or deal with the sin that is glaringly obvious in your life, you will lose sight of the Truth. They will teach lies disguised as truth. Their consciences have been scarred as if they had been branded by a red-hot iron. They have been blinded by the supposed wisdom of the world, but that wisdom will mislead you and drive you away from your Savior. They will pervert marriage and cause you to despise those who continue to stand for the Truth!

Paul went on to provide guidelines for Serving Christ when he told Timothy that a good servant of Christ Yeshua actually points these things out. We can actually be nourished by the Truth of the Christian faith and the excellent teachings we are to follow closely. Paul told Timothy to have nothing to do with godless myths, but to train himself to live a godly life. He pointed out that training the body helps a little, but Godly living helps in every way. Godly living has the promise of life now and in the world to come. This is a statement that can be trusted and deserves complete acceptance. Certainly, we work hard and struggle to live a godly life. And why? Because we place our confidence in the living God! He is the Savior of those who believe.

Paul said that we are to insist on these things and teach them. To make our speech, behavior, love, faith, and purity an example for other believers. We are to concentrate on reading Scripture in worship, giving encouraging messages, and teaching people. And not to neglect the gifts we have received. To practice these things. To devote our life to them so that everyone can see our progress. We are to Focus on our life and our teaching. To continue to do what we have been told. Because if we do this, we will save our self and those who hear us and follow through with apply these words. (Adapted from I Timothy 4)

(I send out messages like this each morning in emails, and if you are interested in receiving them, send me your email address and I will add you to the list: Mail List)

With these Morning Messages, I take you on guided tours to, as Bunyan described, the Celestial City. At times we linger at corners familiar and unseen. And explore the depths of our faith along the way.

The trail is long, but there’s no hurry. Though we do need to stock up on supplies for the way, and that’s where I need your help. If you enjoy these messages, please consider becoming a contributing member of this tour group. It will be very much appreciated.
