You Are Not Alone

Oh, this morning we have to be completely honest with ourselves. I’m not talking about you being honest with me. But rather, you being honest with you! Did I say that correctly? I want you, to be honest with yourself.

Have you ever though that you were all on your own. No one could possibly understand you, or your situation, or how you what circumstances you are enduring. Oh, people try to understand, but there is no way the could possibly relate to it. Certainly not God.

Look, I will agree that I probably don’t understand, because I am not you. However, I will not agree that our God does not understand. The Psalmist declared:

O Yahweh, you have examined me, and you know me.
You alone know when I sit down and when I get up.
You read my thoughts from far away.
You watch me when I travel and when I rest.
You are familiar with all my ways.
Even before there is a single word on my tongue,
you know all about it, Yahweh.
You are all around me—in front of me and in back of me.
You lay your hand on me (Psalm 139:1-5)

Oh, the Psalmist knew! Our Father fully understands your deepest thoughts. He knows when you sit down, and He know when you stand up. Your deepest thoughts, are no secret to Him. He fully knows what you are feeling, and He knows how to address it.

Such knowledge is beyond my grasp.
It is so high I cannot reach it (Psalm 139:6)

Well, I beat it is! But it is very much true. True enough to trust your life on!

Where can I go to get away from your Spirit?
Where can I run to get away from you?
If I go up to heaven, you are there.
If I make my bed in hell, you are there.
If I climb upward on the rays of the morning sun
or land on the most distant shore of the sea where the sun sets,
even there your hand would guide me
and your right hand would hold on to me.
If I say, “Let the darkness hide me
and let the light around me turn into night,”
even the darkness is not too dark for you.
Night is as bright as day.
Darkness and light are the same to you (Psalm 139:7-12)

Can I give you an answer to the questions you and the Psalmist are asking? Nowhere! Wherever you are, He is. You can never outrun His love and care for you, and you can never hide from His searching eyes.

You alone created my inner being.
You knitted me together inside my mother.
I will give thanks to you
because I have been so amazingly and miraculously made.
Your works are miraculous, and my soul is fully aware of this.
My bones were not hidden from you
when I was being made in secret,
when I was being skillfully woven in an underground workshop.

Now that is the attitude we should have! There is nothing He doesn’t know; and there is nothing He cannot mend. He created our inner being and knitted us while we were still inside your mother. Amazing!

I could go on and on, but the bottom line is that our God is all around us — in front of us and in back of us. He rests His hand on us and shields us from our enemy. Just thinking of this is actually beyond our comprehension. It is so high and beyond or natural imaginations.

Sure, there are times when darkness surrounds us, but He searches our heart and knows what is in it. He sees the evil ways that lie deep in our hearts, but His Wisdom draws it out of us. We started this out saying that “no one understands me.” Well, friend, our Father has figure us out long ago.

When we cry out to Him, He answers us and strengthens us and gives us the courage to press on. In His eyes darkness and light are no different. He understands our darkness and is able to give us light. He fully understands our hearts, and loves us anyway.

So whatever it is you are facing right now, you may as well lay it before Him, because he knows all about it anyway. He will bring healing and rescue from your circumstances. He is your King and your Redeemer.
