You, my friends, are just like a car. What I mean is that you have a “fuel tank,” and it is continually filled as you spend time with people you love such as your friends and hobbies. Those are the things that energize you emotionally, as well as, spiritually. But those same things (along with others) are regularly depleting your energy.
But here’s the thing. Your energy, whether emotional, spiritual and even physical, are often depleted by the hardships and setbacks you face, as well by certain people who drain the life from you. If you must, avoid them. But those who fill your tank. Those who breathe life into you, embrace them and cherish their presence in your life. They will remind you of how good our God is. They will call you to live up to the best you can be. When you are with them, you find your anxiety going down, and your hope and sense of trust and faith just go up.
Thank them! Seriously, let them know how they so positively impact your life. Certainly, you can call them, but better yet, send them a note. A call is nice, but they can hang onto a note and carry it with them as a reminder. That note may the positive impact they may need sometimes.
As Paul encouraged us, “Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another-and all the more as you see the Day approaching” (Hebrews 10:25)
