I recently received a fascinating email from the Bible Broadcasting Network (BBN), a ministry I have supported on an occasion. The title was, “Let The Lion Loose!!!). It began with Paul’s encouragement for each one of us:
“Don’t let anyone move you off the foundation of your faith. Always excel in the work you do for the Lord. You know that the hard work you do for the Lord is not pointless” (I Corinthians 15:58)
This is excellent admonition! Paul had just been discussing the Resurrection and how it became the power of our lives. He wrote, “God’s Grace made me what I am!” Indeed! And this Grace will make you into something grand.
If we have told you that Christ has been brought back to life, how can some of you say that coming back from the dead is impossible? If the dead can’t be brought back to life, then Christ hasn’t come back to life. If Christ hasn’t come back to life, our faith means nothing and sin still has you in its power!
Then those who have died as believers in Christ no longer exist. If Christ is our hope in this life only, we deserve more pity than any other people. (I Corinthians 15:12-19)
So BBN’s email went on to say,
“Let the lion loose!” thundered from the mouth of Dr. Harold Sala in a recent chapel service at BBN, as he preached to us of the powerful impact of the Word of God . . . alone.
He shared the story of Glen Chambers. As a young man, he was called to be a missionary to a remote area of Ecuador in the Andes. Tragically, the commercial plane he was in crashed and there were no survivors. Years later another missionary found a group of native believers worshipping the one true God in a remote village in Colombia. A hunting party from their village had come across the charred copy of Glen Chamber’s Spanish Bible. They read it and believed in Christ by reading the Word of God . . . alone!
That’s right! We need to “Let the lion loose!” in our lives. The power of the Word of God should allow all us to be:
- Steadfast in our faith
- Unmovable in our convictions
- Relentless in sharing the gospel
Right now, stop what you are doing and consider the possibility of joining me in a renewed commitment to spreading the powerful, life-changing message that is found in God’s Word!
