Honoring The Lord

Hey, let’s be real honest, okay? If we genuinely desire to be faithful to the Lord’s call our lives, there is only one thing for us to focus.

Teach me your way, O Yahweh,
    so that I may live in your truth.
    Focus my heart on fearing you.
I will give thanks to you with all my heart, O Adonay my Elohim.
    I will honor you forever (Psalm 86:11-12)

NIV renders it slightly differently:

Teach me your way, Lord,
    that I may rely on your faithfulness;
give me an undivided heart,
    that I may fear your name.
I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart;
    I will glorify your name forever

Whoa! Then the Amplified Version expands the verse even more:

Teach me Your way, O Lord, that I may walk and live in Your truth; direct and unite my heart [solely, reverently] to fear and honor Your name.

I will confess and praise You, O Lord my God, with my whole (united) heart; and I will glorify Your name forevermore

Cool, huh? We should maintain an “undivided Heart,” a heart that is “solely united” in honoring the Lord! There is no way we will be able to walk faithfully with the Lord without the Spirit of God teaching us! Now, according to the Psalmist, we must seek “an undivided heart.” Later he says, “I will honor you forever.”

I want you to notice that the emphasis on maintainingan undivided heart.” I can’t tell you how important it is that our heart is never divided, that it isn’t wholly yielded to our Father’s leading and on Him, alone! There should never be any other loyalties. There are no options, my friends. All our springs exist in our Father, and all of our expectations are to be in Him!

I have discovered in the Christian life that the further we travel with our Lord, the fewer our options become. The path becomes narrower and narrower, and ultimately those who reach the end of the course are those who find their total satisfaction in Yahweh. It is not Yahweh plus something; it is Yahweh alone! That is an undivided heart – when we don’t look anywhere but in Yahweh for our life, our satisfaction and our peace.

Think about that. Where are you thoughts aligned right now? Where have you fixed your conversations, your friendships? Is anything interfering with your faith?
