How Do You Receive?

When Jesus was raised from the dead, His Father was fulfilling the promise He made way back in the Garden of Eden. In Genesis, we read that Yahweh promised that He would send a Savior to crush the devil! And the rest of Scripture points to that event!

The moment Jesus was raised, evil no longer ruled over the hearts of men. I can’t imagine greater news! His Father raised Jesus to provide new life to anyone who believes: life in His Father’s kingdom; a life that removes our bondage to sin; a life that allows us to become sons and daughters of Yahweh, the El of the Universe! This is indeed Good News!

In advance, Yahweh promised to adopt us into His own Family by bringing us to Himself through Jesus Christ. This was His desire since the beginning of time! This is why we praise Him for the Glorious Grace He has poured out into those who belong to His Son! It is His Ability to do what we cannot do! It is the imparting of His very nature into our spirit! Paul declared,

“Because of his love he had already decided to adopt us through Yeshua Christ. He freely chose to do this so that the Grace he had given us in his dear Son, would be praised and given glory.

Through the blood of his Son, we are set free from our sins. God forgives our failures because of his overflowing kindness. He poured out his Grace by giving us every kind of wisdom and insight when he revealed the mystery of his plan to us. He had decided to do this through Christ. He planned to bring all of history to its goal in Christ. Then Christ would be the head of everything in heaven and on earth (Ephesians 1:5-10)

This my dear friends, why you need to quit limiting, belittling, minimizing what He has done when He provided your Salvation! You have received the very life and nature of El Shaddai! God All-sufficient! And, as a matter of fact, many of you are sending me reports of the marvelous things the Lord is doing in your lives!

Now, here’s the thing: the night before Jesus willingly surrendered to the cross, He taught His Disciples the most important lessons they would ever hear. Jesus knew what they would experience and wanted them to be prepared for whatever came against them.

“I can guarantee this truth: Those who believe in me will do the things that I am doing. They will do even greater things because I am going to the Father” (John 14:12)

Whoa! What did He say? Jesus was promising that His followers would do greater things than He did! Cool! Think about the things that Jesus did: He cast out evil spirits; He healed a paralyzed man; calmed a storm’ walked on water and taught with authority! And we are to do even greater things?

Well okay, how in the world are His disciples supposed to do greater things than those? Ah! You find the answer in what Jesus told them later:

I’m going to the one who sent me. Yet, none of you asks me where I’m going. But because I’ve told you this, you’re filled with sadness. However, I am telling you the truth: It is good for you that I’m going away. If I don’t go away, the helper won’t come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you (John 16:5-7)

Think about that! Jesus was promising to send His Father’s Holy Spirit to live in us! Some translations call God’s Spirit, “the Counselor,” or “Friend,” “Teacher,” “Comforter,” and even “Helper!”

What I am saying is that Jesus gave us the marvelous gift of our Father’s Spirit! Look how Paul talked about this whole idea:

“Did you receive the Spirit by your own efforts to follow the laws in the Scriptures or, was it by believing what you heard?” (Galatians 3:2).

Ooh, man, that oughta fire up your faith! James wrote,

“When you ask for anything, be sure that your faith is in God alone! Don’t waver, because if a person has divided loyalty as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. They shouldn’t expect to receive anything from the Lord” (James 1:6–7).

Have you asked the Lord for this gift? Have you sought for the Holy Spirit to be active in your life? Have you been continually knocking?

Even though you are evil, you know how to give good gifts to your children. So how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him? (Luke 11:13).

My friends, Satan will never be able to stand up to a righteous, Holy Ghost-filled child of God who walks in faith and obedience! Just show me a genuinely Holy Ghost-possessed believer, and I will show you someone who puts the legions of hell on the run. When they wake up in the morning, the demons shout, “Oh, no!” I’ll  tell you right now, ask your Father to make that happen:

“Father, send your Spirit! Fall on me! Baptize me with  Supernatural power and presence. And send me out against satanic strongholds with an uncompromising faith that you will prevail in today!”
