In order for us to be responsive to His instructions and guidance, the Lord gave each of us a “heart of flesh.” As a result, if our hearts are tender when our Father speaks to us and we yield to His voice, we will never be overcome by the pressures of our life; we will bend and surrender to what He desires. Similar to the way a lump of clay allows the potter to determine the shape of the vessel.
I will sprinkle you with clean water, and you will be clean and acceptable to me. I will wash away everything that makes you unclean. I will take away your stubborn heart and give you a new heart and a desire to be faithful. You will have only pure thoughts because I will put my Spirit in you and make you eager to obey my laws and teachings. You will once again live in the land I gave your ancestors; you will be my people, and I will be your God (Ezekiel 36:25-28)
To help the Lord in this process, He gave us His Spirit who provides us that ability to respond to Him. By yielding to the Spirit’s promptings, our hearts become increasingly more tender and sensitive to His leading. Yes, it takes time and patience on our part, but the Lord will be able to give us an even greater understanding of His Word! Then, our heart will soften even more, because it has faithfully accepted and obeyed previous teachings.
That sounds pretty good, doesn’t it? Although, any resistance to His desires will slowly ebb and harden our hearts! This is why Yahweh stated, through the prophet Isaiah:
If you are willing and obedient,
you will eat the best from the land.
But if you refuse and rebel,
you will be destroyed by swords.”
Yahweh has spoken (Isaiah 1:19-20)
However, as we become comfortable with His presence and more intimate with Him (which is the result of our submission to Him), we will be quick to deal with sin and return to the place of obedience and blessing! It is all a wonderful succession!
People with tender hearts remain connected to the body of Christ; they encourage each other in their walk of faith. Believers like this are not only open to hearing what their Father wants to tell them; they also remain teachable and are willing to listen to corrections offered by others.
This week, when you read your Bible and pray (and also when you are with other believers), allow your heart to be softened toward what you hear from the Lord.
Recently, a dear friend of mine replied to an email I sent her:
Thanks for the note!! I love how the Lord leads!
He has been leading me through some preparations that will ensure I know I am well hidden in Him. So, when He takes off walking on the water I’ll trust His feet. 😁✨☝🏼
It’s been difficult to have the areas of striving, unrest & unbelief shown to be the hindrance they are, but the beautiful truths revealed about our loving Father and the ardent love of Jesus through His finished work is more than I can articulate! His Spirit has been working overtime to show me how His super natural power truly does work through weakness!!
Grace is amazing!!!! It’s like the anticipation of the best roller coaster ride to watch Him do even more exceeding, abundant, above & beyond things! 💫
Evidently, she has indeed discovered the wonder of His provision!
Whenever He pokes His finger into each hard area of your life, listen to His instructions; rely on the Spirit’s power to help you yield and obey. Allow Him to shape you into a beautiful and useful vessel!
Father, I rejoice and thank you that I have been sprinkled with clean, Redemptive water; that I am now acceptable to you. You have washed away everything that made me unclean. You have taken away my rebellious, stubborn heart and given me a new heart that desire to be faithful and to honor only you. You have put your Spirit in me and I am eager to obey everything you teach me. I rejoice that you have drawn me into your Kingdom and I will always praise you. With all my heart I will praise your wonder and glorify you throughout eternity. I will honor you and celebrate your great name.
